Police Auctions – Buying Near New Used Cars for Under $1,000

by Lynn Chapman

It’s easy to buy cheap seized cars at government auctions and police auctions. In this article I will give you some of the best tips for beginners when it comes to using Government auctions to get vehicles at a real bargain. Then you will know exactly how to use these auctions for your purchase.

It’s hard to realize that seized cars sold at Government auctions and police auctions are sold as is. A great deal may not be such a great deal if the vehicle is damaged. You can avoid this by learning how to recognize problems by careful inspection.

It’s not like going to a car lot, where you can take the car for a test drive. You cannot test drive cars at Government auctions. The closest you can get is to listen to the engine. That’s why you need to learn how to appraise a car by inspecting it, or getting an expert to go along with you to inspect it for you.

Avoid bidding on cars if you don’t already know their value. Have an expert upraised the car, or consult the Kelley Blue Book.

Next, inspect the contract before you enter into it. Some contracts have a specific number of days you have to wait before you can get the title. Keep this in mind if you’re thinking about turning around and selling the seized car right away. Sometimes it is the waiting period that negates the great deal you’re getting on price.

Keep in mind that these are auctions. You must bid wisely and strategically. It is very easy to get caught up in the heat of the moment and pay more for the vehicle than it is worth.

Remember also that there are likely to be dealers at the auction bidding as well. They will have a good idea of the value of the cars being sold.

Spend some time looking at online auctions. Websites like Government Auction Site Reviews can show you the best government auction websites. Perusing these sites will help you be more confident at the auctions.

Trucking Insurance Premium Factors

by Steve Turner

All truck drivers and fleet owners must purchase Trucking Insurance coverage to be legal in the United States. Since there are a number of factors that are used to calculate the premium they can realize savings by understanding how these factors are considered.

The insurance provider will evaluate the road infrastructure and the seasonal weather in the region where the truck is to be utilized. Premiums will be based upon how these conditions will affect the truck.

Cargo insurance is an option to add to your trucking insurance policy. The price of this option will depend on the type of cargo being transported such as hazardous, time sensitive, and value.

The equipment used on the truck will be evaluated as to its value, age and condition. The better these are the lower the premium. The age of the truck however does not necessarily affect the premium but the upkeep does.

If the deductible is set at a higher rate than what is standard the premium will receive a discount. Do some financial planning so that the deductible can be set as high as possible.

The DOT or Department of Transportation requires trucks to pass a safety inspection to drive legally in the United States. Insurance providers will evaluate the DOT safety records when computing the rate being offered for coverage.

The safer the truck and driver are the less risk they are to the insurance provider. Safety features such as warning stickers should be implemented. Drivers should enroll in safety programs offered through their company or state departments.

How To Buy The Perfect Motorcycle Jacket

by Pius Ephenus

The motorbike has been long known as the must have article of clothing for people who want to look stylish. All of us would like to appear cool and stylish, at least in public; and to do this, many choose motorbike jackets. However, most people aren’t sure how or even where to find a great motorbike jacket which is comfortable to wear and stylish at the same time.

There are some very simple things to keep in mind when attempting to buy a jacket you’ll enjoy not only showing off to your friends, but wearing. Here they are:

- The first thing we tend to notice about clothes of any sort is color. And like all other clothes, motorbike jackets are available in any color you can think of. Of course, there are fewer choices of colors for men?s jackets, but women have a lot of choices. However, basic black is the most common choice for both genders.

Style is really about following your own tastes and wearing the things which you feel the best in. No matter what fashion critics and magazines may say, if you feel good in your motorbike jacket, you’ll look good wearing it. You will carry yourself with a confidence which translates directly into cool! However, if you don’t feel that your jacket is a good fit for you, it doesn’t matter whose name is on the label or how much it cost. You won’t look good in something you do not feel good in it is just that simple. If you feel stylish, you almost certainly are.

- Men will usually have a fairly limited palette to choose from, with black being the most common. Other colors you may seen in men?s motorbike jackets are grey, brown, red and green. Of course, women have more colors to choose from and don?t have to worry abo9ut choosing colors which make them look masculine.

Men shy away from trying out different colors in their jackets, probably out of a concern that they won’t look quite as masculine as they had intended. However, don’t let this stop you! Try out different colors, you may be surprised how good you look n some of them.

- If you would like to have more colors to choose from for your motorbike jacket, the best way to go is to shop online. This lets you see a much wider variety of jackets than you?d be able to see by running all over from shop to shop.

Also, if you have a color already decided in your head, there are plenty of online sellers ready to help you out, if you tell them exactly what color and sort of jacket you’re looking for. It is your responsibility, however, to figure out which of these online sellers really deliver what they promise, and the whole rigmarole of online buying can be a little costlier than what it is generally, but hey, you know you’re getting your money’s worth, and what can be a more satisfying feeling than that?

We made low viscosity SP3 to be the best penetrating oil ever.

by Bill Palmer

There are many products you can use on rust and frozen parts and engines. But only SP3 is designed to be the deepest penetrating oil possible.

Rust is no match for SP3. Just soak the corroded item or area with SP3 and give it some time to work. It won’t take too long for our deep penetrating formula to work. Use a brush or scratch pad to remove the rust. Wipe the area, then wipe again with a dry rag. Now that the rust is gone, you can paint right away. You don’t even have to clean SP3 away.

Eliminating rust is an easy job for SP3, but what it is really designed to do is free frozen parts and unstick seized engines. SP3 is the best penetrating oil available on the market and that makes your problem projects easier to deal with than ever.

To free up frozen parts, just flood the part with a 2-3 second spray of deep penetrating SP3 and let it sit for awhile. During that time SP3 will soak into every possible space and loosen everything up. That is because our low-viscosity formula has less oil than other products.

Low-viscosity makes SP3 the deepest penetrating oil available. And the best use for SP3 is to unstick engines that are really stuck.

To free your seized engine, first prepare it by removing all sparkplugs, or injectors if the engine is a diesel, and draining any water still sitting in the cylinder. Use a suck nozzle inserted in the sparkplug hole to do this.

Next blast the cylinder and the intake manifold with a two or three second spray of SP3. Wait about 24 hours to allow the best penetrating oil to seep deeply into the engine.

Rock the vehicle back and forth OR install a fresh hot battery and hit the starter a few times. You should be all set, but if the engine is still stuck, repeat this whole process using more deep penetrating SP3.

Forty-eight hours to unstick an engine that got that way over many years? It is not too much to ask of the deepest penetrating oil available, and SP3 does most of the work for you. If your engine is so stuck that even two treatments of this deepest penetrating oil don’t free it up, call us, and we will help you get that engine free.

Discount Auto Insurance – Based On How You Drive

by Joseph Welusz

You can now get discount auto insurance based on the total amount of miles you drive. It is starting to spread across the country. This underlying thought has been around for a for a long while but now insurance carriers are beginning to initiate the program. The next opportunity you get to get auto insurance quotes see if it is available.

First offered on the west coast as a pilot discount auto insurance program and has recently been approved for New Jersey through Progressive insurance. To my knowledge only one other company offers auto insurance quotes this way; GMAC Insurance who’s program is only available to people that have Onstar in there vehicles.

Progressive insurance will attached a devise to you car to monitor the speed at which you drive, your breaking habits and mileage totals. GMAC’s Onstar includes GPS tracking devise but I’m not aware of how they calculate your driving habits. This causes concerns to many people.

Many government lawmakers and non-profit organizations have questions around the way the insurance companies will be monitoring there insured. Some feel by inserting one of these types of devises to your automobile you may be giving up some constitutional freedoms. Another greater concern is that people that live in country will not be able to benefit from this program because they have to drive further daily than people that live in cities.

The discount on your auto insurance could be as much as 9% over people that don’t participate in the program. My concern is how much can your premium be increased if your driving habits to fit what the insurance company has set as normal. Also how does the insurance company determine what is the correct breaking pressure?

A concern of mine is if this program is picked by all the main insurance carriers in the future if you don’t part take in the program will your premiums automatically increase. I understand the insurance company’s point of view of offering lower rates to more responsible drivers that do not drive that far but years down the road how will this affect all of us?

This program was released in New Jersey on August 8th of 2008. Let’s see how long it will take to be available in all states. It will also be interesting to see what other insurance companies adopt a similar program.

I believe it should be your decision to make if you want to participate in a program like this. You know how you drive and how far you drive. I am totally open to the concept but I am a little weary about how they might track my driving habits and what they are compared too.

Pickup Truck Bed Liner Options

by Jason Lancaster

Proper bed protection is a must-have for people who recently got themselves new trucks. Lucky for you, a wide array of options is available. Here are some of the really good ones:

1) No Bed Liner. Obviously, it’s the most affordable and easiest option in the bunch. This would work perfectly well, given that you don’t lug anything that could disfigure your truck’s whole look. But the inevitable might still happen and you won’t have a choice but to carry something that could potentially damage the paint’s finish. If you opt to add a bed liner in the near future and your truck has scrapes all around, it may get a tad more expensive. This is because it will now require a new paint job on the entire finish just to protect your bed and liner from any unwanted moisture, as well as prevent rust from developing around them. This is a good choice if you are planning on having your truck rented.

2) Rubber Bed Mat. It’s quite old-fashioned, but it’s a good option. There is no dispute that a thick piece of rubber will be able to protect the truck bed from any scratches and at the same time provide a surface that will provide more friction than a stock bed. If you are thinking of getting this, try one that is thick. Those thin rubber mats about less than a quarter inch thick tend to roll up when there’s a load, making it a bit of a hazard. Another point is to make sure that the mat has a knobby bottom so that moisture won’t get trapped under the mat that would lead to rusting of the bed. Lastly, choose mats that are pre-cut to fit the truck. Those trim-yourself-mats never seem to fit just right and tend to be cheaper. This will cost around $75 to $100, which is its best feature.

3) Plastic Bed Liner. Usually called “drop-ins”, these types can be applied easily and quickly, they do a great job of shielding the bed from any form of decay. This is ideal if you usually slide items onto your truck because plastic is slippery enough not to scratch. They are also very easy to clean. The only major disadvantage of this kind of liner is that items have a tendency to move around a lot, even when properly secured, because of how slippery plastic is. Another thing to consider is that plastics attract humidity, which means you have to take it out once in a while and clean the truck bed properly. This kind of liner can be had between $250 and $400.

4) Plastic Coatings. We?ve all seen the ads ? send in $49.99 and they?ll send you a gallon of special ?truck bed paint? just like the pros use. Get out your roller and paint brush and you can install your own ?spray-in? like bed surface on a Saturday afternoon. Wrong. Unless you have experience applying this stuff, you?re probably going to screw something up. Worse, it doesn?t always bond properly to the bed, meaning big hunks will flake off at the least helpful times. While I don?t want to condemn all of these products, I haven?t ever seen it work. Proceed at your own risk.

5) Spray-In. This is by far the most popular option, and for good reason. It?s the best looking and most durable bed liner there is. The bed is sprayed with a special polyurethane ?paint? that protects the bed from scratches and chemicals. The coating is permanent, the texture is rough (which keeps things from sliding), and the material is nearly indestructible. In fact, unlike every other option listed here, a spray-in liner will last forever.

Lots of companies offer spray-in bed liners, but the top two are Line-X and Rhino. While you may hear lots of differing opinions about the two products, it?s fair to say that they?re basically the same stuff. However, the installers are not the same. In fact, any stories you hear about a bad Rhino or Line-X liner have more to do with the person that installed the liner than the product itself. The best way you can make sure you get a good spray-in liner is to find out how long the installer has been in business. If you have any doubts about them, get references and check them out. Your local new car dealer is also an excellent place to get a recommendation for a good installer. You should be able to get a quality spray-in liner with a lifetime warranty installed for $300-$400 (under rail). Over the rail should add about $50. There are other names out their in spray-ins, and I’m sure that some of them are just fine. However, since they?re not usually any cheaper than Line-X or Rhino, I don?t recommend them.

6) Carpet Liner. The carpet liner is usually dubbed as the perfect carpet for the great outdoors what with its chunk of rubber matting and vinyl backing. They are exceptionally strong and very ‘cushion-y’. These work best with camper shells. The nice thing about this option is that it can be detached anytime you please. If you, for some reason, want to see your truck bed just as it is, this is a great alternative. Like the plastic bed liner, this costs roughly about $350. The only problem I see is that it doesn’t properly stay in place, but then it might have something to do with its installation.

You can also add plywood to your truck bed, and there are some cool commercial roll-up systems that literally unload your truck for you (like Load Handler). Lots of options are a good thing when it comes to truck bed protection.

How to File a Trucking Insurance Claim

by Steve Turner

Trucking Insurance coverage is to give drivers and fleet owners the benefit of having recovery for damages in the event of an accident. It is vital that drivers know what the process of filing a claim is with their provider and also the appropriate steps to take at the scene of the accident.

The claim process is really simple. After you file the claim with your insurance provider they will then send out an insurance adjuster that will assess the damages that incurred in the accident. Based upon their assessment payment will then be made to cover the expenses of damages and medical bills.

Even though the claim process is a simple one, there are some things that can be done to help it move along as smooth as possible. Have prepared for your insurance company your story, the story of the other individuals involved in the accident, information about the damages, the police report, and the accounts given by any eyewitnesses.

Drivers should assess the situation at the scene and determine if emergency services such as 911 need to be called. If they have had any experience or training in medical assistance they should provide the help that they have been trained to do.

You should make sure and get the personal information from the other driver involved in the accident. You will need their name, phone number, license plate number and insurance information. Most of these details can be found on their insurance card.

The insurance agent should be contacted as soon as you have the opportunity to. They will be able to provide you with the steps that you should follow next. They will also inform you what types of coverage on your policy will be used to cover the claim.

An insurance adjuster will be contacted for an appointment to evaluate the cost of the damages or losses that have resulted in the accident. After this payment will be made to complete repairs or replace equipment.

Lighting Options for the Aftermarket Pickup Truck

by Jason Lancaster

If you want your pickup truck to have a more customized look, why not look into Aftermarket lights? What’s great about this is that it can be mounted virtually on any area of your vehicle, depending on your preference – up front, at the back, or on any available bar on your truck, including the bumper areas for better night vision and visibility during bad weather. Three different types of lights are available for the tundra.

Fog lights are probably the most common auxiliary light added to cars and trucks. Most trucks come with optional fog lights direct from the factory, and they are mounted in a recessed oval in the front bumper. Fog lights are designed to be aimed low, at the road surface itself, in order to undercut hanging fog. Some people are not satisfied with the level of illumination provided by their stock fog lights, and they decide to either replace or augment them with an extra set of fog lights. If you decide to add a set of fog lights to your truck, then you should consider a company like Hella. Their FF50 kit provides H7 halogen lighting to the front or rear of your truck and the small, oval shape fits well with the overall appearance of the vehicle.

Bumper, brush guard, or roll-bar mounted off-road lighting. Off-road driving is very challenging and demanding on any vehicle, as there is the unpredictable terrain, obstacles, and possible obstructions on the path to think about. It is also a big risk to run a trail at night only with headlights on, except, maybe, if you have excellent visibility. This is the main reason that bumper, brush guard, or roll-bar mounted off-road lightings are recommended accessories. One of the top names for floodlight-like brightness is KC HiLites. The largest in their stock is the 69 series lights, which emits equivalent to 191,000 candle power with each beam. This could be quite dangerous to your fellow motorists, but can be a lifesaver in the woods.

Driving Lights. These are usually somewhere in a category between the off-road lights and lights that are safe for public roads. It’s usually placed lower than off-road lights and is designed as such that it enhances the headlight’s illumination. When compared to fog lights, these are pointed straight. A respected company for this kind of lights is the PIAA. They design a wide range of driving lights like the 004XT’s and 1400 series. Take note that these lights can become overwhelming to incoming motorists and should only be used when there’s none around.

Adding extra lights on your truck is a fun way to make your vehicle truly of your style. Not only does it improve your navigation skills at night or on a rough terrain, it also improves your truck’s whole look, too.
