The A Hydrogen Conversion Kit For Success

by John Dowes

The term biofuels refers to the utilisation of organic materials and converting them into an energy source. We will be using these fuels as a substitute to the fossil fuels that we are currently depending upon for energy source. A number of products fall within the definition of biofuels including: sugar cane, ethanol, vegetable oils and corn oils. But ethanol products are not the only ones developed for gasoline purposes. As stated by the International Energy Agency (IEA), although presently, only two percent of the world’s usable gasoline is composed of ethanol, by 2025 it would rise up to the figure of 10 percent and even up to 30 percent by 2050.

On the other hand, this biofuels research needs to be improved and a study from the Oregon State University showed that it can be convenient and profitable. Unfortunately, despite many people’s hatred of petroleum based gasoline products, nothing yet developed is as efficient.

To measure energy efficiency, we need to know the quantity of the required utilised energy that we can gain from a certain amount of input energy. It never occurred that mankind has employed anything that obtained more energy from output than from what was the needed input.

This is easily shown by the figures of energy efficiency of alternative fuels: Ethanol 0 20%, Biodiesel 69% and gasoline 75% (OSU research). However, the study did turn up one positive: cellulose-derived ethanol was charted at 85% efficiency, which is even higher than that of the fantastically efficient nuclear energy.

The Chicago Stock Exchange has a grain futures market which is starting to ?steal? investment activity away from the oil futures in NY, as investors are definitely expecting better profitability to start coming from biofuels. It has been conclusively predicted as agreed by the analysts, that by the year 2030, these fuels will sufficiently provide seven percent of the entire world’s transportation fuels. An energy markets analyst had certainly stated that if the government would financially support firms distributing biofuels and constantly promote the use of eco-friendly fuel, the growth in demand for diesel and gasoline may slow down dramatically.

Brazil can be pointed out being the world’s biggest producer of ethanol developed from sugars. 5 billion gallons of ethanol. Even the US have go in on the act and now produce the second highest amount of biofuels in the world after Brazil. The production capacity of European Union’s biodiesel is currently overload of about four million (British) tonnes. EU’s biodiesel fuels are drawn from rapeseed oil and soybean oil which comprises eighty percent of its totality and the other 20 percent is composed of a marginal quantity of palm oil.
