February 1, 2010

Gas prices have risen again! The national average is about $2.97 per gallon. (Information comes from the Oil Price Information Service.) There are concerns about supply disruptions from overseas.

Regarding recession, GM Corp. reported in mid February of this year, that it lost $38.7 billion US dollars in 2007, the largest yearly loss for a U.S. auto company. The company said it would offer buyouts to 74,000 U.S. workers.

Regarding Global Warming, Hewlett-Packard will cut Greenhouse Emissions – In a joint initiative with WWF, H-P will reduce CO2 emissions by 15 % over the next four years at its facilities worldwide. They will inspire and educate others to adopt the best practices, and use HP technology in conservation efforts around the globe. HP will also work with WWF to improve the energy efficiency of its products.

The Insurance Industry is now getting serious about Global Warming – Climate Change has the potential to significantly alter and intensify destructive weather patterns in the U.S. leading to increased flooding, forest fires and storm damage. These changes could make insurance unaffordable in high-risk areas. In fact, insurance premiums in states vulnerable to hurricanes are already increasing, and in some cases, insurers are leaving these markets completely.

Global Warming is offering a lot of opportunity for people to help out and make money at the same time. It has created it’s own industry and there are many things people can do for this cause and thus, create a new career in this critical time of Climate Change to reduce CO2 Greenhouse emissions for our future and the future of our children.
