Automobile Sales Training Tips for Car Salesmen
Everyone knows that buying a new or used car means dealing with a vehicle salesperson. Most people expect this to be a negative experience. Actually, most people claim that the choice on whether to buy a vehicle or keep looking is based on whether or not the salesman was easy to deal with. In customer surveys the salesperson was ranked in importance before vehicle amenities or price. Gives you something to think about, doesn’t it? The question is, “How do you leave make a positive impression on your prospective buyers and insure that you will close the deal? Consider these tips and strategies for how to sell more cars.
Car Sales Training Tip 1: Build a Rapport Make a connection with your clients! Listen to what your customers have to say and talk to them like they are normal people, not just prospective buyers. Act normal, not like some guy trying to sell them something. Don’t talk over your customers or try to tell them what is best. Understanding what they need and being polite will go a long way to establishing a connection. Build a connection with your customer up front if you expect to be taken seriously. You need to ask questions about what your customer likes or enjoys. Do they have children, what are their hobbies, or where do they like to vacation? After all who would you rather buy a car from, someone who can recite all the features or one vehicle or someone that cares about what is best for you as a person? That’s right, everyone will choose the guy who actually cares about their needs and wants over the guy who can recite facts all day long.
Automobile Sales Training Tip 2: Know Your Product This may seem like a simple thing to say, but it’s amazing how many sales people don’t equip themselves with the answers to their customers’ questions. Become an expert on all the vehicles you’re selling. Why not write out a card for each vehicle and on it list 6-8 different things about each car. That way you put yourself in the customer’s shoes and he or she will be impressed and rate you as a true professional.
Automotive Sales Training Strategy 3: Build a Sales Pipeline Everyone knows that the sales industry is a numbers game. The more prospects you have the more sales you will make. Make sure that everyone knows when a car is needed you are the person to contact. Contact neighbors, friends, acquaintances, and family members to let them know you can offer a great deal on their next car. Offer a special incentive if someone is referred with your business card. Networking is very important in sales, so make sure you get the word out.
